Sites Suitable for New or Recently Qualified Divers
Dive Site Name - El Toro
Location – In between Santa Ponca and Magalluf
Description – Marine reserve
Depth – 5 to 18 metres
Visibility – 15 to 30 metres
To get there – 10 minutes from the dive centre
Instructors View – Very good dive site with little or no current. Boat moors in a sheltered area. Depth at point of entry is 5 metres with a large shelf area that enables divers to gain confidence before proceeding over the shelf down to 12 metres. This gradually slopes down to 18 metres. This area was designated marine reserve status in 2003. Marine life is improving all the time. Common sightings include octopus, moray eels, bream, wrasse, hermit crab, barracuda, nudibranchs, damsel fish and countless other wonders!
Dive Site Name - Punta Cautius
Location – In between El Toro and Magalluf
Description – Shallow dive
Depth – 5 to 18 metres
Visibility – 15 to 30 metres
To get there – 15 minutes from the dive centre
Instructors View – Relaxing dive site with little or no current. Boat moors in a sheltered area. Depth at point of entry is 5 metres with a shelf area that enables divers to gain confidence before proceeding over the shelf down to 15 to 18 metres. Also known as cathedral rock this site never ceases to amaze even us! Plenty of large rocks to investigate that hide all sorts of aquatic life.
Dive Site Name - Malgrats – Pool
Location – In between Santa Ponca and El Toro
Description – Shallow dive on marine reserve
Depth – 7 to 18 metres
Visibility – 10 to 20 metres
Time to get there – 10 minutes from the dive centre
Instructors View – Sheltered dive site with little or no current. Boat ties up to fixed buoy where the depth is 7 metres. This gently slopes down to 18 metres. Slightly challenging dive as we go out into the open sea! Regularly have the privilege to witness barracuda swimming in between the island of Malgrats and the mainland. Usually a nice long dive as we are only down deep for 10 minutes.
Dive Site Name - Cala Fornells
Location – In between Santa Ponca and Andratx
Description – Shallow wall dive with a sandy bottom
Depth – 4 to 18 metres
Visibility – 10 to 20 metres
Time to get there – 15 minutes
Instructors View – Sheltered dive site with no current. Boat anchors in water that is 4 metres deep. Descend and follow the wall on your right shoulder. Drop over the shelf down to 12 metres. Follow the wall down from 12 to 18 metres. Investigate the large rocks that hide all sorts of marine species.
Dive Site Name - Cala Monjo
Location – Just past Cala Fornells
Description – Shallow wall dive
Depth – 3 to 15 metres
Visibility – 10 to 20 metres
Time to get there – 15 minutes
Instructors View – Very relaxing dive that drops down from 3 metres to 15 metres gradually. There are a few caves to investigate and a swim through for the more adventurous. Regularly see octopus, wrasse and damsel fish here. Saw an eagle ray there once too!

Dive Site Name - Cap Andrixtol
Location – In between Santa Ponca and Andratx
Description – Wall dive
Depth – 6 to 18 metres
Visibility - 15 to 30 metres
Time to get there – 15 to 20 minutes
Instructors View – Drop into the water and descend to 6 metres follow the wall down to 18 metres and continue for 10 to 15 minutes. A nice swim through and we turn around and head back to the boat.

Location – Just before El Toro marine reserve
Description – Wall dive with a swim through
Depth – 4 to 18 metres
Visibility – 20 to 30 metres
Time to get there – 15 minutes
Instructors View – Nice sheltered dive site that has excellent visibility. Drop into the water and basically swim a large figure of 8 underwater. There are some interesting rock formations that look a little bit like mushrooms! These usually hide a few grouper. There are usually plenty of damsel fish here and the occasional lobster.
