Having spent the last 9 years diving beneath the waves I thought it was time to try my hand at sailing. So I ventured down to Mallorca Sea School (www.mallorcaseaschool.com) in Puerto Portals. Following a discussion with the staff at the school I was advised to enrol on the RYA Day Skipper shore based theory course and the RYA Day Skipper practical course. These two courses ran from Monday to Friday for two weeks. All I can say is “I wish I tried it years ago”. What an experience! Sailing at night was a truly wonderful and fantastic experience. However thanks must be given to the great staff of MSS especially, Maggs. Her patience, knowledge and confidence were awe inspiring.

Simon Leight was the last PADI Open Water scuba diver certification of the year. He lives on the island and works as first mate on a large yacht in Club de Mar Palma de Mallorca.
