April 2007 News
We opened up for the season on April 6th. The first divers of the season were Rob Jones a PADI Rescue Diver and BSAC Sports Diver and a regular visitor to Mallorca, Ian Lingham from Kent.
They enjoyed several dives in and around the marine nature reserves of El Toro and Malgrats. The scuba diving was great! We saw thousands of Damsel fish, plenty of shoaling barracuda, nudibranchs, starfish, bream, sea anemones and plenty more. We also had a guest appearance made by Zeus Faber, more commonly known as a John Dory. There was an abundance of octopus to see with the majority of them at relatively shallow water (10 metres).
Following the Easter weekend we were visited by the Rhodes family. Michael and Angela Rhodes used to be members of Thames Side BSAC club years ago. They had not dived for almost 10 years! Needless to say they soon slipped in to the swing of things and they both looked at ease under the water. Their son William Rhodes who also dived with us is studying economics at Sheffield University. He is a memebr of Sheffield Sub Aqua Club. (SSAC).
Towards the end of the month (27th) Sam Heeley arrived. He will be with us for a month. He has opted to do the PADI Fast Track Divemaster program with Finatical Divers – Mallorca. The Fast Track Divemaster is a very intensive course that involves doing two tank dive trips every morning and then several hours worth of theory in the afternoon. We will be taking plenty of pictures and you can find out how Sam got on in the May news pages.
